About this deal

We try very hard to have activities that have a Low Threshold and a High Ceiling, so that pupils of lower ability can get into the activity and get somewhere, whereas the most able can easily be extended through the activity.

It's always good to add in the option of “the same” when talking with pupils about something being more or being less. We find that often the dice that accompany giant games such as giant snakes and ladders or giant ludo do not last.Available in 4 different sizes, the 30cm version of the dice are nice and big but not too expensive - great for parties and events. It's not too difficult to count the dots as long as long as the starting point is remembered, something which seems to develop slowly with some pupils. We recommend these foam dice as replacements as they will last much longer and be more satisfactory. Another way of getting into the larger numbers is by having two 0 - 9 dice of different colours so that one will determine the tens numeral and the other the units.

These giant dice are light enough to be thrown around easily but strong enough for children (or lighter adults) to sit on. Ever since we played that giant game I’ve wanted to make my own giant dice just because they’re awesome. When you’re finished this step you should be left with a cardboard cube, and all you need to do now is reinforce the sides with more duct tape on the outside and add the coloured dots. Made in Europe, these dice are great fun and durable making them a much better alternative to inflatable dice which often burst. g. the person who rolls the highest number gets first turn on the computer – it’s way better than flipping a coin because they can’t fight over who gets to be heads and who’s stuck with tails, lol).

Use your hole punch to cut the numbers from one through to six in different colours and glue on with a glue stick.

Each card measures 130 x 130mm (5" x 5") and will fit perfectly in the pockets of the large foam dice. Perfect for a range of number games - why not invite children to roll the dice to create an addition number sentence? This set of soft foam dot dice is excellent for teaching children about chance and probability, as well as other key maths concepts like number sense, counting, addition, subtraction and much more. At the event they had a stage with a contemporary rock band playing all our favourites while thegirls danced with glow sticks and fake candles, plus there werefood stalls and extra activities set up for the kids – including a GIANT game of snakes and ladders along with a giant dice. You can use these handy inserts with a large foam dice in your classroom to support learning numbers one to six. As the talk continues pupils become more confident to add their own thoughts, and the beginnings of number recognition, counting and addition may well occur. Fold into a cube shape, taping the inside of the box for extra sturdiness (it’s going to need to withstand a few bumps). The one I’ve made is about half the size and constructed a bit differently, butit’s still very simple to make and you can be done and dusted in under 30 minutes. Looking at the numbers (whether dots or numerals) on the faces of the dice can be explored in the activity Taking a Die for a Walk.
