About this deal

The BL Brushless Motor eliminates carbon brushes, enabling the BL Motor to run cooler and more efficiently for longer life

With the move to battery powered grounds maintenance machines becoming ever more popular, particularly at the demand of municipal authorities and public bodies, Makita offers a range of 18v tools and, more recently, an expanding inventory of twin 18v machines to give 36v power. The power and run-time performance of the 36v Brushless motor makes the latest tools fully comparable on power and performance to petrol engine machines, while being highly sustainable with low noise and emissions. The Makita DUX60Z is the main drive unit for a family of garden attachments including line trimmer, hedge trimmer, pole saw, cultivator and edging tool and is powered by 2 x 18v Li-ion batteries connected to the 36v brushless motor. This DUX60Z Split-Shaft Multi Tool is a body only machine - attachments, batteries and chargers are sold separately. MAKITA DUX60Z FEATURES Makita EY403MP Split-Shaft Multi Tool 12" Pole Saw Attachment Only for DUX60 / UX01G Or why not browse our range of: Most of the time I need something compact light and easily stored for lawn edge trimming around the house. But two or three times a year I need something powerful to maintain land on the family farm. Generally we’d use 2 stroke machines, stilhl chainsaws, tanaka hedge clipper etc. And work in places without access to 240v power for days at a time (but go to a house with power for lunch & dinner). Reliability is absolutely key for those days, can’t afford downtime. 2nd most important thing is performance; need something that is efficient at its job. I imagine the brush cutter would get 2-3 hours use on those days, probably with an opportunity to charge batteries half way through at lunch. Will need to handle think brambles and small (I have the short reach duh601z trimmer and its very good. Don't know about long term durability yet though compared to petrol. Powered by two 18V Li-ion batteries in series to supply energy to the powerful 36V DC motor drive system Run time up to 117 minutes when using the BL1860 Battery, 97 minutes with the BL1850 Battery and 75 minutes when using the BL1840 Battery. (Using nylon cutting head)

Product dimensions are stated with a battery / batteries, if they affect the overall dimensions of the product. Extreme Protection Technology (XPT) is engineered for improved dust and water resistance for operation in harsh conditions Part of the Makita multi tool system, this DUX60Z split shaft multi tool is suitable for use with all Makita Combi attachments - it uses the same attachments as the petrol counterpart. Although I only need a brush cutter right now, I like the idea of a multi tool to add possibly a long handle hedge trimmer or cultivator in future.

Makita BR400MP Split-Shaft Multi Tool Power Brush Attachment Only For DUX60 / UX01G

Im guessing from a try using a sthil battey trimmer: HLA85 (unsure of size of motor in this as not in spec?) the makita cordless version may be about as powerful as a 900w KM94 but not as powerful as the more powerful combi stihls engines in range.
