About this deal

Molly Sanders proposed to paint the machines with a bold lime green, a color that nobody had used before in racing since it was considered ‘jinxed’.

According to Kawasaki, the 1969 KMC National Sales Manager Don Graves and National Marketing Manager Paul Collins, worked with Akashi designer Chris Kurishima and famous Los Angeles painter Rollin “Molly” Sanders to come up with the color. The notorious colour first made its appearance in the late 60s, when every one of Kawasaki’s two-stroke racers at the famous Daytona 200 were cloaked in Lime Green.Steyer recommends that two or three coats be applied over cellulose primer or 2-pack acrylic primers, leaving at least 10 minutes between coats.

All of Kawasaki racing activity in the UK will fall under the Team Green banner, creating one large racing network. Kawasaki shocked the paddock with a bevy of 250cc A1RA and 350cc A7RA factory racers painted in green and white. Supplied in 400ML aerosols, 2K Products are Isocyanate "proper" 2 pack products (pull the pin to mix them prior, wear appropriate ppe, and professional use only). For centuries, green paint was made with arsenic and it would literally burn itself into a painter’s canvas. After the war he founded the business that bears his name in a shed in his hometown, although with its enormous growth he soon moved his headquarters in Minato, financial heart of Tokyo. He also created Kenny Roberts’ iconic black-and-yellow strobe paint for his Yamaha race bikes, the Buick Grand National logo with the swirling turbo in the 6, as well as racing colorways for Toyota. Borgo Panigale’s motorcycles were painted silver-gray and came to show off a ‘cavallino rampante’ in his fairing! The motorcycle division of Yamaha moved to Iwata, a neighboring city on the other side of the Tenryū River. However, the manufacture of Yamaha musical instruments is still performed in Hamamatsu; For this reason and also for the presence of companies such as Roland, Kawai and Tokai, Hamamatsu is known in Japan as ‘the city of music’. The thinner the passes, the quicker the drying, so the interval between each layer will be shorter: At an ambient temperature of 20°C, the coats are applied one after the other, whereas in cold temperature you must wait 5 minutes.
