About this deal

Here are some of our more lighthearted things to show we're not all about the Serious Business of games. Gatling – If a player rolls three Gatling symbols in a turn then the Gatling gun is activated and all other players lose one hit point.

You should probably house rule this out, but it’s possible for a particularly unlucky last player to get eliminated without getting a turn if every other player just shoots them. But you know, not everyone can play the best and sometimes the thing that we can really get excited about here on Meeple Like Us is the extent to which a game is playable. On a player’s turn they will roll the five dice up to three times locking in any die that they choose to keep. The sheriff and deputies are trying to kill all the outlaws and renegades, the outlaws are trying to kill the sheriff, and the renegades are trying to kill everyone else.

As far as social deduction goes, Bang the Dice Game is probably the most accessible one we’ve looked at because there’s no real way for a proper consensus to emerge.

Everyone gets an identity card that gives them a special power, and everything else is deduction and dice. It features the same wild west shootout with a sheriff who can’t quite remember who is a loyal Deputy and who is a treacherous Outlaw. I would only bring this to the table with 5 or more players it plays at its best with the full 8 players. It’s an okay way to spend your time if you don’t take it too seriously, but dammit – taking things too seriously is my only super power. The Dice Game, the only player you can trust is yourself (unless you forget which role you have and accidentally sabotage yourself).

You skip over corpses, of course, otherwise you might well spend your entire turn emptying your revolver into a dead player that is just becoming ever more perforated with every passing turn. The 3 player game is a bit different, although totally playable, it doesn't quite capture the best aspects of the larger game and is definitely not the ideal way to play it. It reminds me slightly of the game 'The Resistance' which features a similar secret role mechanic, although this game is a lot less stressful and probably a lot more fun. I rather like the yahtzee mechanic employed here as well, it tends to keep the pace up and the added randomness helps the game feel lighthearted enough that no one can take it too seriously. That’s a standard recipe for these kind of titles, used to great effect in games like the Resistance and One Night Ultimate Werewolf.

I believe that any dice game succeeds or fails largely on the basis of whether it's exciting to roll the dice, and here Bang!
