About this deal

I bought this for my daughter, who knows little about jazz, but I thought it would be a good introduction for her. It’s not registering as any louder on the db-o-meter but it feels louder, I don’t know how to explain it.

In Vinyl1954´s comment I got a little confused when reading ; "t is best to use Columbia EQ curve on the photo stage" . com/Miles-Davis-Kind-Of-Blue/release/5795305), with the tracks on Side B wrongly interchanged, but red in color instead of white, would be the earliest pressings. Language - Regardless of country of origin all tracks are sung in English, unless otherwise stated in our description. Only a handful of albums come close to this one, but they still haven’t knocked it from its pinnacle of pure pleasure and excellence. It is hard to believe it possible that a recording made on 3- track magnetic tape 56 years ago could sound so alive, alive in a kind of magical way that almost takes you back to that time and place.

For decades, it was considered the best selling jazz as it sounded then like an avant-garde and still sounds today like contemporary jazz. The five completed tracks from that session with producer Cal Lampley – “On Green Dolphin Street,” “Fran-Dance” (with an alternate take), “Stella by Starlight,” and “Love for Sale” – are the only other studio recordings of the sextet with Adderley, Coltrane, Evans, Chambers, and Cobb (though live recordings exist on other Columbia/ Legacy album releases from the Newport Jazz Festival in July, and New York’s Plaza Hotel in September). Kind of Blue isn't merely an artistic highlight for Miles Davis, it's an album that towers above its peers, a record generally considered as the definitive jazz album.

Kind of blue , due to its commercial success is sometimes given a wide berth by jazz purists who insist there is better stuff out there.Davis played trumpet sublime with his ensemble sextet featuring pianist Bill Evans, drummer Jimmy Cobb, bassist Paul Chambers, and saxophonists John Coltrane and Julian 'Cannonball' Adderley with Wyton Kelly playing piano on Freddy the Freeloader. Davis was the first artist to understand how to blend all music genres in a masterful and essential work that remains one of the 10 masterpieces of the 20th century. It may seem ironic that the biggest-selling album in jazz history is such a subtle and understated beast - perhaps less so when you consider it as a sublime masterpiece of subtlety and understatement. In this release, his third album for Reference Recordings, Doug MacLeod continues to explore the breadth and depth of the human condition.

This album showcases Cooper’s theatricality, storytelling prowess, and ability to create an immersive world of horror and fantasy. Existe una versión remasterizada y en vinilo de 180 gr, con dos discos con piezas añadidas y tomas alternativas que merece la pena; yo la poseo en CD y está muy bien. In away, the story of Ben Webster's saxophone career is the story of jazz music itself through decades of experience.

Improvisation is an enigmatic and elusive thing, especially at the envelope-pushing level captured here, with Miles and sidemen forging ahead and abandoning the strictures of hard bop for the relative freedom of a modal approach. One day, however, they might and some albums now come very close to doing so, like Kamasi Washington’s recent album: The Epic. Miles also stuck to his old recording procedure of having virtually no rehearsal and only one take for each tune. If I'm going to spend a sizeable amount on a 1959 pressing, I might as well get an earlier one, in the original Columbia plastic inner sleeve. Mastered from the original master tapes, and pressed on 45 RPM LPs at RTI, this sumptuous box set of the often-reissued album is a must for even fans that already possess multiple versions.
