The titles in the series are The Enchanted Wood (1939), The Magic Faraway Tree (1943), The Folk of the Faraway Tree (1946) and Up the Faraway Tree (1951). Place the bowl onto your stand mixer with the dough hook and add two more cups of flour - gradually add another 1/2 cup of flour at a time fo your dough is super sticky. It belongs to the house of the Angry Pixie and his method of evening the odds when passers-by look in on him is to empty a kettle of water over the nosy-parkers. They go to the wood to meet Jo, Bessie and Fanny and meet some of the wood's residents, including Silky and Moon Face.

There are so many interesting takes on the magical foods that the children feast on when exploring the tree but I’ve yet to see an (what I think is) accurate portrayal of Google Buns. Despite their connections with the Fairy-world his Faraway Tree friends can't take the spell off so poor Jo has to stay topsy-turvy and as this would make it a little difficult to get down the tree again he stays the night at Moon-Face's and they all hope that the next land which comes along might have some remedy for his plight. While I am aiming to have a Famous Five style picnic soon (I am confident in my ability to provide lashings of homemade gingerbeer), the first few recipes I wanted to tackle came from possibly the most famous of Enid Blyton’s books - The Faraway Tree.

Produced originally in 1943, this title is a popular one and was described very aptly by a fan as "One of Enid Blyton's most enchanting tales. In October 2014, it was announced that the books will be adapted for the cinema for the first time and are being developed for a live action film version by Sam Mendes' production company, Neal Street Productions.

The Magic Faraway Tree: A Christmas Adventure by Jacqueline Wilson published in October 2023, continues the story of Milo, Mia and Birdy from Wilson's earlier book. The perfect introduction to the enchanted world of the Magic Faraway Tree for the youngest children.Bake buns for about 20-25 minutes - they should be a nice golden brown on top and slightly springy to the touch. Mix together the bi-carb, citric acid and icing sugar - feel free to taste and adjust if you want it sweeter, more sour or more foamy.

Many dangerous, fascinating and even hilarious situations occur as we accompany the children on their adventures and sometimes a visit to the tree will become so involved that it may take up two or more chapters during which the characters stray into deeper and darker circumstances. Sometimes, he cannot understand what his friends are saying because he is partially deaf, which is further aggravated by all the noise from the pans and kettles which he carries all the time.

Voices: Roy Hudd, Richard Pearce, Kate Harbour, John Baddeley, Jimmy Hibbert, Janet James and David Holt.

There are a few versions and recipes online already, but I’ve kinda gone my own way with it, of course the general outline of how this was done can really be done with any particular bun recipe that you want. There is also a visit to The Old Woman who Lives in a Shoe and you can imagine how uncomfortable that could turn out to be, and — "Is it a bird? Over the years, the Faraway Tree stories have been illustrated by various artists including Dorothy M. Line a tin with baking paper and allow it to hang over the sides - this will allow you to pull the buns out easily after baking. Near the end of the book Silky, Moon-Face and Saucepan are nowhere to be found and the children are informed of this by another inhabitant of the Faraway Tree — Mr Watzisname who visits them and even stays the night at their home.
