This is loosely coupled to the helmet outer and designed to slide in the event of an oblique impact, helping to protect the brain from rotational forces. The Giro Savant Road Bike Helmet will give you race inspired performance with an in-mold polycarbonate shell and 25 wind tunnel vents to give you unbeatable ventilation. Considering that the Savant most closely compares to aero and semi aero helmets in ventilation and is not aerodynamic in any way says something about the design. This includes adjusting saddle height, saddle position and where possible adjusting the brake levers / gear shifters. As with all Giro helmets, this affordable design utilises a WindTunnel ventilation system, enabling air to flow through the helmet with reduced drag, ensuring you don't overheat or slow down throughout high-speed sprints or descents. When the dial is tensioned it pushes the front of the head into the EPS, which is fine if your head is shaped appropriately, but some of our testers had a hard time getting a snug fit without pressure points. Data Integrity - this system checks the data being transferred to ensure it has not been altered during tranfer.

The Savant is not a great value, and we feel that the Overdrive MIPS or the Specialized Airnet offer a lot more bang for your buck. Giro has been increasing its range of aero road helmets, but the Giro Savant, which has been in the brand’s range for a few years, retains the classic vented road style. There’s quite a broad section of padding around the brow and a couple of small pads over the crown of the head. The Savant makes notable use of Giro’s flagship Roc Loc 5 retention system, which features three positions of height adjustment and a easy to use micro-dial.With the Savant looking so good and potentially being safer than a normal helmet, we’re inclined to give it the heartiest of recommendations.

To determine the correct helmet size, wrap a measuring tape around the head, keeping the tape just above the ears and level front to back.
